As any other type of surgery, anesthesia can cause allergy to the patient, allergic reactions from anesthesia is a common and known complication of any type of surgery. Apart from the usual complications that may occur with any type of surgery, breast reduction has a list of complications on its own. The first complication on the list is the numbness and loss of sensation; this is a common complication that takes place after the operation.

Normally, the numbness lasts for a month or little bit more because the nerve endings are severely hurt but it may take a longer time to regain sensation in this area so, be patient. As for the areola area, the numbness may last forever.
